LOCI – giving insulin-dependent diabetics safer injection site management

Around 40% of diabetics develop lipohypertrophy – tissue damage from repeated injections in the same site. Whether from insulin pump use or direct injection, this causes dangerous blood sugar variation, physical discomfort and
goes largely undetected.

LOCI is an at-home scanning device that detects lipohypertrophy before it causes harm.

Key User Flow

01 SELECT
Users open the LOCI app and
choose their injection site.
02 DETECT
The lens is positioned onto the
selected zone and the button is held.
03 PREP
If safe, the user is prompted to
disinfect using the wipe pad.
04 INJECT
Users have confidence to safely
inject in the sanitised zone.

RescueShell – Design for Impact

RescueShell is designed with both volunteers and animals in mind, this seal rescue device makes the capture process safer, calmer, and more manageable — reducing stress and the risk of further injury to seals during rescue.

The Team! We collaborated with Friends of Horsey Seals to gain real user insights and understand the rescue process on-site.
Using repurposed ocean equipment, RescueShell minimises close contact, while the spacious design prevents muzzle constriction and reduces further harm during capture.

12 – Month Internship at BAT

During my award-winning placement year, I led a year-long sustainability project exploring the Vuse brand — identifying opportunities to reduce environmental impact while improving the overall user experience.

I gained cross-functional experience across the CMF, Industrial Design, and User Experience teams, working alongside international colleagues. A particular highlight was being named a winner of the BAT Hackathon.

Contributing to the McLaren x Vuse collaboration — designing limited edition packaging for the Vuse Ultra (Red Dot Winner).
I developed a circular design strategy – mapping the full product lifecycle in collaboration with engineers, scientists and external partners.
