Attune is a haptic wristband system designed for SEN children in mainstream primary schools. Existing stress interventions require teachers to visibly interact with a child mid-lesson, drawing peer attention and increasing stigma. Attune allows a teacher to send a calming vibration pattern directly to a child’s wrist with two button presses: silently, wirelessly, and without disrupting the class. The child feels the signal, breathes, and refocuses. No disruption. No stress. No fuss.
The Attune visual identity was designed to sit between two worlds: a professional look for NHS and school procurement whilst still being sleek for a child to want to wear it. A muted sage green palette, soft-touch matte finishes and a rounded pebble form all work together to make the device feel personal and considered rather than medical or institutional.
The charm system gives each child a daily ritual of choice. They can pick a strap colour and attach a named charm before the school day starts. This sense of ownership is not cosmetic; it is evidence-based, research showing that personal investment in a therapeutic tool significantly increases how consistently a child will use it.
