I aim to reinterpret the details of classical architecture by stripping them of their original function. This shift allows the sculptures to exist as purely spatial interventions rather than symbols of authority or tradition.

Degree show – The Long Gallery

For the degree show I will be presenting multiple columns and corbels, placed around the room imitating where these sculptures would be placed for their initial design. My sculptures keep their grand scale while the colourful tactile material aims to be soft and inviting, allowing the viewer to re-evaluate their relationship with the space.

My Practice

My practice investigates the use of architectural details used in grand buildings to project power, wealth, and influence. I am a sculpture artist, who mostly uses fabric stretched over cardboard frames to create architectural elements. In this show I will display columns and corbels. I allow experimentation to lead to the development of each art outcome, which has allowed me to select a range of fabrics that are visually inviting and still is associated with the elite through the colour palette and design.
