Although the work takes inspiration from Plato’s Theory of Forms, the idea is contradicted. Plato uses the ideology of mimesis to exclaim that art is ‘an imitation of an imitation’ (Plato, N/A). He expresses that art is a representation of the carpenter’s work, and that the carpenter’s work is a representation of the ideal, everything placed on earth. He views them separately, yet my work opposes this theory by combining all three roles of the artist, the carpenter, and earth.
