Repurposing clothing has allowed me to have a deeper connection with my work, I reminisce whilst I work with my daughters clothing and let go of the past whilst creating something new. I have given these clothes another purpose, to help people understand the multifaceted experience of being a mother and hopefully for some to relate and reminisce. The blanket speaks for my varied parenting experiences, good and bad, through the textures and manipulation of the clothing. It flows from the bed and takes over the room, just like my child has taken over my life and also shows the chaos that a child brings.

From pregnancy physical and mental growth starts, mother and child continue to grow for the rest of their lives. As my child has gained more independence I have realised this, that’s why my the belly part of my maternity trousers has been picked apart from the trousers and a baby is shown to be crawling away. This growth with and from each other has been an experience which has taught me to easily adapt and it was hard to let go of each stage of her development, but it turned into something different and wonderful.
