Kindness is cool

Although Food bank usage in the UK is at an all time high, financial and nutritional donations to Food banks are not sustaining the high demand for emergency food parcels. There is a much wider systemic issue around Food banks and poverty in the UK and globally, the aim of this collaboration was not to solve it, but to find an innovative smaller-scale campaign to encourage healthy and substantial donations.

Food crisis charity Trussell Trust have collaborated with Smeg to allow for fresh food donations by putting fridges in every major supermarket in the UK with our new campaign ‘Kindness is cool’. The popular Italian household electronics brand SMEG is often a status symbol in British kitchens. So utilising this, we have designed a line of Italian fresh food inspired patterns to create recognizable and impactful branding on our fridges along with other products on this wide ranging campaign. The merchandise features the colours of the Italian flag to link back to SMEG, the sole fundraisers of this campaign.

The perfect boyfriend

Mattel have noticed the male counterparts, who often have the role of romantic partner to our female dolls, always seem to be more of an accessory- which our dolls already have plenty of. So we’ve decided to rebrand the boyfriend to hopefully play a more functional role.

Women all want different outcomes from life, but frequently their boyfriends never seem to compliment their lives in a meaningful way. This issue inspired the creation of Mattel’s new product, the Perfect Boyfriend. Selecting a hammer to be the Perfect Boyfriend, we took an everyday item that has been previously overlooked when marketing to women and reinvented it to be fun and useful, two traits boyfriends often lack. In this new line there’s a perfect match for everyone, something for everyone. We have thought of it all; humour, kindness, economics, cleanliness, protection, and comfort- with a  different hammer designed to embody each of these traits individually. Why settle for one when you can collect them all? Because you really do deserve everything. Designing through play is something that is always at our core, so we’re pleased to present a product that is fun, functional and safe.

Yes we can.

Although Canesten has been keeping everyone comfortable since its founding in 1969, our world has completely changed since then. We’ve advanced so much socially, economically and scientifically, yet somehow female intimate health has always remained a taboo. Come on, we’ve been to the moon and back yet there is still a stigma around women’s health products!

Canesten’s mission is to break down taboos around female health and comfort, as no one should have to feel uncomfortable. We have looked back at our founding year 1969 and the decade it ended, to highlight how silly it is to be embarrassed by health products in this day and age. Because we have come so far in society since then, this campaign uses humour and retrospective insight to allow for a modern revolution.
