SmartSens- Parking Sensors for Classic Cars

Problem

Classic cars often suffer from poor visibility due to their bulky design, making them difficult to manoeuvre and park safely in tight spaces. However, most owners are reluctant to install modern parking assistance systems because they typically require permanent modifications such as drilling into the body framework or complex wiring. Any alteration to the original bodywork is highly undesirable, as it can reduce the vehicle’s authenticity, lower its value, and even result in point deductions at classic car shows where originality is highly prized.

Solution

A completely non-invasive, retro-fit parking assistance system designed specifically for classic cars. Front and rear sensors are discreetly integrated into a slim frame that mounts using existing license plate holes, requiring no drilling or permanent alterations. The system uses ESP32-based wireless communication to transmit real-time distance data to a plug-and-play dashboard unit, which is powered through the vehicle’s cigarette lighter. It provides instant LED and audible buzzer alerts, giving drivers improved parking confidence while fully preserving the originality and value of the vehicle.

Mechatronics:

This project was to design a wireless controllable robot to exhaust fires (candles) accurately and navigate an obstacle course with precision.

I worked on a four-wheel drive system with effective suspension that allowed smooth movement over uneven surfaces. The robot was able to climb and descend slopes with strong control, extinguish candles at different heights, and fit within the required bridge clearance dimensions while maintaining stable performance throughout the course
