Alera

Routine blood testing. On your time. In your home.

Alera is an at-home blood sampling device that addresses the discomfort, anxiety and inconvenience of traditional phlebotomy.

It streamlines the process by enabling fast, controlled blood collection without the need for clinic visits, making routine testing simpler, quicker and less stressful for users.

Additionally it supports both left and right-handed use, as vein prominence can differ between arms.

Device power dial. Rotated by the user to select the required operating mode (left or right-hand use). The corresponding buttons are then activated for user interaction.

Prototype Comparison
Comparison between the functional prototype used for testing and the aesthetic model developed to explore form, usability and overall product appearance.

User Testing
User evaluation of the functional prototype to assess usability, interaction and overall system performance in a realistic use scenario. Key focus on vein detection accuracy.

Dummy Arm Testing
Testing of the functional prototype on a simulated arm to validate needle actuation accuracy, control and safe insertion behaviour.

Fire-Bot

A group project focused on designing and building a wirelessly controlled robot capable of navigating an obstacle course while extinguishing candles.

My primary role was developing the internal electronics and control system. Using an ESP-32 paired with a PS4 controller, the robot integrated two DC motors for drive, a centrifugal fan for flame extinguishing and three servo motors to control airflow direction.

After multiple iterations and circuit testing, a reliable system was developed and integrated into the robot’s chassis. I then designed a PCB to reduce wiring complexity and improve internal layout and organisation.

Plinth
A desk tape dispenser designed as a permanent object of desire, defined by the material contrast of concrete and metal. The design elevates an everyday function through weight, precision, and restrained form.

Axis Drive V1
A surface modelled electric screwdriver, done in SolidWorks using G0, G1 and G2 continuity to control how surfaces connect, ensuring smooth and consistent transitions across the form.

Work Experience

Product Design Intern at Total Clean Air (2024-2025)

During my 10 month placement, I was primarily responsible for producing high-quality product renders for the company’s sales website and client presentations. This also included developing cleanroom 3D models and preparing detailed engineering drawings to support manufacturing and production processes.
