Hi! My name is Grissom. I am an industrial design student with an international background, using personal experience to create a product that supports international students’ academic journeys and helps make learning more accessible across global education environments.

Lango helps students capture and translate lecture language in real time, revised anywhere anytime.

International students can struggle to keep up in fast-paced lectures when unfamiliar words or phrases appear, often missing key information while trying to translate or understand them.
This concept reduces that interruption by providing live subtitles, instant translation, and personalised flashcards, helping students stay engaged during lectures and continue learning afterwards.
By separating focused learning tasks from general smartphone use, this learning ecosystem helps students build consistent study habits while encouraging more intentional phone usage.

Intuitive Control System

A multifunctional rotary control enables intuitive subtitle navigation: rotating the circular control allows users to scroll through words within a subtitle sentence, while pressing to tilt the circular control forward and backward allows the user to move rapidly between lines of live subtitles.

Once a word is selected, the confirmation button below the rotary control can be pressed to generate an instant translation, creating a tactile, low-distraction interaction that supports fast comprehension with minimal cognitive load during lectures.

Prototyping Development

The physical prototyping process involved producing a full-scale 3D printed prototype to evaluate the concept’s form, proportions, portability and user interactions. The prototype allowed key features, including the adjustable screen, rotary control and integrated thermal printer, to be physically tested and refined through user feedback and iterative development.
