I am a multidisciplinary designer who believes great design leads with curiosity and puts people first. My work is grounded in understanding the user and creating meaningful solutions that address genuine problems.

FIKA.

FIKA. is a dual-pod, physical-digital system designed to support desk-based working parents in mentally closing the workday and returning home fully present with their families. The name FIKA. derives from the Swedish cultural concept of taking a mindful pause, making it a fitting name for a product centred on creating space to stop, reset, and restore balance.

Your ritual for ending the workday.

The Physical Product

FIKA. includes two separate pods, a work pod and a home pod, each designed for a different role in the user’s day and together they form a complete transition ritual. Work FIKA. provides the evidence that you’re done and allows you to leave work feeling accomplished, while Home FIKA. helps you to be present.

From the first tap of the morning to locking your phone away at night FIKA. is with you through it all.

Previous attempts at restoring balance restricts behaviour, FIKA. builds a ritual through healthy habits. Using sensory cues and a physical tap to mark the transition between work and home you maintain your control but are guided to forming a better lifestyle for you and your family. Make intentional decisions to leave work behind and switch your phone off.

Protect Your Time

The FIKA. app works quietly in the background while you focus on your day — keeping track of what came in while you were away, giving you a clear visual overview of what you have accomplished and rewarding your presence with discounted real-world experiences.

Campaign concept – when the user is already thinking about the transition between work and home.

FIKA. Advert

“I designed FIKA. because I kept seeing the same thing — people who were technically at home, but not really there.”

The research made it clear that the problem isn’t overwork. It is that the tools of work follow us everywhere and there is no ritual to mark when work ends and the rest of life begins. FIKA. is an attempt to design that ritual — something physical, intentional and calm.
