What is Altar?

Altar is an alternative wedding wear business that caters to the people that feel overlooked and alienated by the typical wedding wear stores in the UK wedding industry. With more and more people straying from tradition and adding more personal elements to their big day the market for alternative wedding wear is growing.

I created Altar after 8 years of experience in the wedding industry, seeing first hand how the white wedding dress dominated the industry and how those who do not want to wear white are limited with their garment options, especially in store. Altar is not only alternative wedding wear but an experience as a whole, allowing people to shop in person instead of online.

I took my project in this direction as it allowed me to combine my love of design and creating with my new passion for business which I developed at university. Having the opportunity to do this utilised my experience from the wedding industry to create something I’m truly passionate about.
