Jayani Katechia

she/her

I am a 3D Design Foundation student who specialised in creating decorative vessels inspired by my experiences and memories of snorkelling with my family to show people how fascinating the underwater world can be.

Context and Inspiration

Inspired by my past primary photography of colours, textures, forms and shapes that I had observed throughout my many snorkelling experiences.

Use of literature incorporated through the wire to incorporate my family’s experiences of these trips within my own. Which was a key part in making this project personal to me as these memories were created as a family and not just on my own.

Final Collection

Each of the five vessels within this collection have each been inspired by a different sea creature or texture I have observed whilst snorkelling, which makes each one slightly different.

The colour of the glaze used has also been pulled from the colour analysis I created from my primary research and slowly decreases throughout the collection to replicate how objects and creatures slowly become less visible the further away they are in the depth of the ocean.
