This project explores textile design for alpine chalet interiors, informed by the colours, textures, and formations of glacial landscapes. Inspired by frozen meltwater lakes, the work incorporates natural wool tones alongside subtle blues, reflecting both the beauty and fragility of these environments. Central to the project is an investigation into glacial movement and retreat, using this research to influence the development of woven and knitted structures.
Through techniques such as structured knit, organic weave structures, natural dyeing and 3D jacquard, the work captures the distortion, layering, and erosion found in natural landscapes. Sustainability underpins the collection, with a focus on biodegradable materials, low-energy processes, and local sourcing where possible. Wool is a key material due to its natural, renewable, and functional properties.
The final outcomes are designed to be both aesthetic and practical, offering benefits such as insulation and acoustic control, while subtly communicating the impact of climate change.
I worked as a Studio Assistant at Tilehouse Design Studio from October 2024 to June 2025. During this time, I developed a strong understanding of luxury interior schemes and collection building, which directly informed this project. It was at Tilehouse that I was first introduced to chalet interiors, inspiring both the application and conceptual direction of my work. I gained experience in sourcing, buying, Adobe Illustrator, and scheme planning, and was entrusted with the responsibility of styling a show home in London.
