This project focuses on nightlife: the dance floor, the club, the late hour. These are spaces defined by relentless physical energy, and my process mirrors that intensity while pulling it apart. What feels fluid and instinctive in the moment becomes fragmented and exposed in the making.
My work explores human movement through dance in the variation of choreographed routine and impulsive, freestyle expression. The work is presented through mixed media blends and digital interactive installations using hand painted rotoscope animation and touch designer visuals, to present dialogue between human and digital. The human elements of animation and us, distorted through a coded live feed and purposely edited timed visuals. Thus producing an immersive and energetic environment that challenges the audience to reconcile their physical presence with a fleeting digital after image as a reflection to the performative nature through social media and the consciousness of being documented, feeling the urge to curate a digital double that is visually preforming in an aesthetic standard.

When it came to visualising my work, I wanted to exhibit both my identifiable practice and my experimentation work in a refined presentation and exhibition standard. In the beginning, I intensively researched into Touchdesigner, exploring audio reactive visuals mixed with a live feed. However, I found through critique more longevity and interaction in my delay live feed from a previous semester. I adapted this by making the project autonomous through coding the rainbow effect and a 5 second reset trigger that loops allowing a more ‘exhibition standard’ installation.
Time management became essential when incorporating my animated work, with a total of 1195 frames painted altogether to allow a range of visual aspects within the editing process as well as incorporating pacing and effects to prevent immediate repetition.
With the installation itself, I juggled between shapes, size and logistics resulting in an ‘open box’ experience to ensure smoother mapping and upkeeping the immersive elements. With heavy inspiration from Toni Dove’s ‘Sunjammer 6.’ as the foundation to my setup and experimentation.
