Epi- Assist
Guided emergency support for severe allergic reactions.
An emergency wearable designed to help non-experts respond quickly and correctly during a severe allergic reaction.
The problem – When someone has a severe allergic reaction in a public setting, they often rely on untrained bystanders who may hesitate or act incorrectly, delaying life-saving treatment.
Developing the interaction
EpiAssist was developed through repeated prototyping, testing and refinement. Early models explored how the band could be held, wrapped and understood quickly during an emergency, with each iteration improving the placement of the screen, buttons, pull tab and injection-zone guidance.
The final design brings these details together into a clear, wearable emergency aid. Visual instructions, audio prompts and physical affordances work together to help a bystander act with more confidence when supporting someone experiencing a severe allergic reaction.

The full product experienceEpiAssist stores emergency medication within a wearable band, keeping auto-injectors accessible while clearly marking the injection zone.
Pulling the yellow tab activates the device and begins the step-by-step emergency guidance, helping the user understand what to do immediately.
Large illuminated buttons provide clear forward and back navigation, supporting confident interaction under stress, low light or unfamiliar conditions.
