Hiya! I’m Aqsa, a graphic designer with a focus on branding, editorial and web design. My approach merges analog and digital processes, drawing inspiration from fashion, arts, and music to develop systematic designs.

Memoni: New Written System

This project was conceptualised in two parts: letterform development and web design.

I aimed to raise awareness for and educate people about one of the lesser-known, indigenous languages of Pakistan, in an attempt to fight for the internal decolonisation of the state.

01 Written System

Memoni is an oral-only language originating from the Sindh region of Pakistan. It is incredibly difficult to learn without the help of a native speaker.

This unique writing system has been developed to make learning Memoni much easier and more accessible.

An example of this system in use. “Learn Memoni”.
A guide to using this system.

02 Web Design

In order to communicate this concept, I created a prototype ‘minisite’ similar to those made by Grilli Type.

This is a project that I hold close to my heart, and I will likely be revisiting it in the future. Check out my portfolio website if you want to see the interactive version of this website, as I will link it there once it has been made.
