Crazy Rich Asians

Self Led Props Project

Enhancing the greater context and cultural viewing experience of the film ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ 2018 by creating ‘Crazy Rich Asians, The Heritage Set’. Despite being set in Singapore with an all-Asian cast, the film lacks a true representation of Asians and Asian Americans, white-washing their portrayal for a western audience.

Hand-making five props and packaging which are received upon purchasing tickets to a special edition screening, each telling the story of a key scene that celebrates a true Asian experience and Singaporean visual heritage.

Aimed at existing fans who would appreciate learning deeper meaning, culture and context surrounding the film’s roots and setting.

Torn

D&AD New Blood Submission War Child Secret 7″ Brief

Inspired by the tactile nature of vinyl, the record’s central point create the foundation for the spinning graphic forms. Stories two and three explore visual metaphors through expanding shapes and light, reflecting the optimism, connection and energy the charity creates. In contrast, story one uses fragmented, static compositions to represent the harsh realities of war.

Combining handmade collage, stop motion and freehand digital drawing, the mixed-media approach creates a raw and expressive visual language that balances fragility, movement and emotion.
