Connection Cue is a university-based product designed to help disabled and neurodivergent students connect with others on their own terms. Its primary function uses a traffic light system to signal social availability, showing when a user needs some space to focus, is open to a short conversation, or is happy to socialise. This reduces guesswork and anxiety around approaching others or misreading social cues. Supported by an app and a university-wide campaign, the product helps communicate social needs more clearly, creating safer and less pressured interactions while giving students greater control over their social energy, boundaries, and confidence.
This was a group project designed to help students from Sense College. We worked closely with one particular student who acted as our primary client, guiding the direction of the project throughout the design process. The result was a small robot that acts like a personal trainer supporting students in sports and fitness activities.
